- Perché si tratta una bellissima occasione per contribuire alla Community di WordPress, durante un evento di grande importanza e risonanza;
- Se lavori con WordPress o comunque nel settore tech, allora avrai sicuramente qualcosa di interessante da raccontare alla Community;
- Stiamo cercando anche speaker sui temi marketing, business e contenuti, esperienze nella community: non solo dev smanettoni.
E non importa se è il tuo primo talk in pubblico, se non hai mai partecipato come speaker ad eventi simili. WordCamp Torino sarà una splendida occasione per condividere per la prima volta la tua esperienza.

La capacità di parlare in pubblico si acquisisce con il tempo e l’esperienza.
Può essere fonte di ansia. Ma solo mettendosi in gioco ed esercitandosi, parlando di fronte a degli spettatori, si può imparare a comunicare in modo chiaro ed efficace.
Avere qualcuno che ci guidi, ci sostenga e ci incoraggi nel percorso di preparazione al talk è un’opportunità unica e preziosa.
Ed è per questo che il WordCamp Torino mette a disposizione degli speaker che interverranno una persona che ha già esperienza con il public speaking.
Attraverso il mentoring gli speaker avranno la possibilità di conoscere e approfondire tecniche e strategie di presentazione, potranno confrontarsi con uno speaker che ha già affrontato questo percorso e che saprà guidarli e indirizzarli per rendere indimenticabile e più efficace la condivisione dell’esperienza e degli argomenti oggetto dei talk.
Quindi, se hai un argomento interessante di cui vorresti parlarci, non esitare a candidarti. Un mentor sarà sarà pronto ad aiutarti e risolvere i tuoi dubbi.

Eugenio Petullà: Partecipare ad un WordCamp come quello di Torino e, sopratutto, partecipare come speaker è una esperienza che tutti gli amanti di WordPress dovrebbero provare almeno una volta nella vita. Condividere qualcosa di così importante per me con gli organizzatori, con il pubblico e con tutti gli altri volontari è stato bellissimo e mi ha messo in connessione con tutte quelle persone che condividono con me una passione importantissima. Dal giorno successivo non potevo più fare a meno di pensare a loro e all’evento dell’anno successivo. Finalmente posso dire che ci siamo e che non vedo l’ora di essere nuovamente lì!
Daniela Scapoli: L’anno scorso più o meno di questi tempi spedivo la mia proposta per un intervento al WordCamp Torino, e mi chiedevo cosa ne avrebbe pensato la comunità che gravita attorno a WordPress e che partecipa ai WordCamp.
Volevo parlare della mia esperienza di “persona che ha un blog”: di impegno a scrivere, di soddisfazioni e dubbi, di cacciare le paure che non ti fanno mai cliccare sul pulsante “Pubblica”, di come concentrarsi sulle persone che condividono lo stesso interesse, di imparare a scrivere (anche) scrivendo. Volevo dire: “Se ci state pensando ma state accampando scuse per non farlo, provate lo stesso, perché è meglio un blog in più di uno in meno”.
È andata bene, ed è successo perché mi sbagliavo io: la comunità di WordPress è molto più eterogenea di quel che si può pensare. C’è chi ama gli aspetti più tecnici di WordPress ma anche tante persone che vogliono scoprire come usarlo bene e fare meglio quando mettono online i loro siti e i loro blog, i loro contenuti.
Ho visto che chi partecipa a un WordCamp lo fa con attenzione e interesse per ogni punto di vista, che apprezza la condivisione di competenze ed esperienze e ne fa tesoro.
Se stai cercando un posto dove raccontare e condividere quello che sai perché pensi che sarà utile a chi ci sarà, manda la tua candidatura a speaker, non te ne pentirai.
Non te ne pentirai soprattutto se metterti a dire la tua davanti a tante persone non ti sembra davvero “la tua tazza di tè”: il pubblico, la possibilità di avere un mentor, il supporto dei volontari e l’atmosfera rilassata e informale fanno di un WordCamp il posto giusto per parlare in pubblico, anche se è la tua prima, primissima volta.
Piero Bellomo: Se hai fatto di WordPress il tuo lavoro è arrivato il momento di candidarti come Speaker al Torino WordCamp. È una sfida: il salto di qualità di riuscire a trasmettere ad una platea di sconosciuti un argomento in cui ti ritieni competente. È una soddisfazione, perché avrai partecipato in prima persona a far crescere la tua piattaforma preferita. E poi “WordCamp Speaker” sul tuo profilo non sarebbe brutto, no?
Tatiana Schirinzi: Ho partecipato come speaker al WordCamp Torino nel 2016 ed è stata un’esperienza bellissima. Gli organizzatori mi hanno persino messo a disposizione un mentor che mi aiutata ad organizzare il mio speech! Il pubblico era attento e partecipe e ho conosciuto una community bellissima. Devo dire che mi è piaciuto talmente che dopo pochi mesi ho partecipato al WordPress Meetup di Bologna e ho dato una mano a riorganizzare la community locale. L’esperienza continua ed è sempre molto interessante.

Daniela Scapoli: Just about this time last year I sent my application to be a speaker at WordCamp Torino and couldn’t help but wonder what would the WordPress community think about it.
I wanted to share my own personal blogging experience: the writing, rewards and doubts, to overcome that fear of clicking “publish”, how to focus on people that share the same interests as you, to learn how to write while writing. All I wanted to say was “Even if you find many excuses not to do it, do it anyway. It’s better with one more blog out there”.
I did get selected and it went really well. The WordPress community is actually a lot more heterogeneous that you think.
I’ve noticed also that those who join WordCamps do it with care for each single aspect, appreciating everything people share.
If you are looking for a place where to tell your own story and where to help others at the same time, do send your application and you won’t regret it, even if public speaking is not your “cup of tea”. The audience, the possibility of having a mentor, volunteers’ support, and the relaxed and easy atmosphere will make your experience at a WordCamp the right place to do so, even if it is your first time ever!
Piero Bellomo: If WordPress has become your main job, you must apply to be a speaker at WordCamp Torino. It’s a challenge. You can only improve by spreading your own personal knowledge to an audience of total strangers.
Such a rewarding feeling for helping your favorite platform grow. Not to mention how cool to have “WordCamp Speaker” on your profile!
Tatiana Schirinzi: I’ve been WordCamp Torino Speaker in 2016 and it was an awesome experience. The organizing team gave me also the chance of having a mentor to coach me with my speech!
the audience is great as much as the beautiful community around it. It was indeed such a meaningful experience that I decided to take part at Bologna’s WordPress meetup as an organizer.
The experience still goes on and it’s always very interesting.
