Meet Laura Sacco – WCTRN 2026

Let’s start with your name. Easy, right?
Laura Sacco, often known as lasacco

Tell us which professional talent helped you the most in organizing this WCTRN.
Definitely having organized many types of events, and WordCamps in particular, taking on different roles, allows me to have a solid overview of the various goals, tasks, and timelines. I think the experts call this skill product management. But above all, in my role as organization lead, I would say the things that help me the most are problem-solving and managing anxiety 😉

At this point, tell us what you do for a living. What do you work on?
I’m a professional educator, passionate about business organization and communication. With my brand Mentore Digitale®, I support people in developing their digital skills and entrepreneurial ideas. I’m also a Partners Manager at Elementor, where, among other things, I manage content for the Italian blog and relationships with the Italian community and stakeholders.

What was the most unexpected skill you used while organizing WCTRN?
I’ve been part of the organization so many times that nothing unexpected comes to mind right now. Years ago (maybe in 2018?), I used my passion for coffee machines to manage the coffee corner. A sponsor provided coffee and machines that we had to manage ourselves. Knowing how to maintain the machines was very helpful for me, and for all of us, to handle everything smoothly, without issues or damage.

What’s something people don’t realize about the work your team does behind the scenes?
The attention to detail and care. Like a conductor, whoever leads the organization must know exactly the result they want to achieve, ensure everything flows harmoniously, and step in to support when needed. Even though it’s all done on a volunteer basis, the entire organization process is carried out in an extremely professional way.

Describe your experience at WCTO so far using only emoji, GIFs, or stickers. Add as many as you like.

📆👩🏻‍💻👥🤞🎉🌟 and the ever-reliable

If WCTO were a music festival, what would your team’s soundtrack be?
A bit predictable, but We Are the Champions by Queen

We’re in Turin, city of the Mole Antonelliana and the National Cinema Museum. If your team were a movie, which one would it be? TV series count too.
The Big Bang Theory, stories of nerds but above all of friendship 😉

Turin was the first capital of Italy. If you had to “govern” something in the WordPress world, what would it be?
Without a doubt, the community.

Which fictional character would be a perfect member of your team, and why?
Albus Dumbledore, headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Wise, visionary, patient, yet with extraordinary powers, capable of giving space and observing from afar, but stepping in to resolve the most complex, and desperate, situations. And he also has a precious ally, the loyal Fawkes, capable of healing any wound.

In the spirit of open source collaboration, what is the most important lesson WCTRN has taught you about teamwork? No one is unnecessary or useless. Everyone can have a role, and every talent and skill can find space within the organization. When people are given space and are not afraid of making mistakes, extraordinary things emerge.

Convince someone, in 10 words or less, to attend the next WordCamp.
If you’re not there, you don’t know what you’re missing. Try it and see.
