What to Bring to Make the Most of the WCTRN Experience

Just a few days to go, and the 6th WordCamp Torino will become a reality! 🎉

We can’t wait to see each other again, smile, laugh, hug, and yes, also talk about WordPress together.

To fully enjoy this experience, here are some useful tips and suggestions.

Where and when

The Conference day will take place at Toolbox Coworking, via Agostino da Montefeltro 2, in Turin; for details on how to get there, you can find a full summary of useful information here.

Registration opens at 8:30 AM and the event starts at 9 AM, we’re from Turin, so don’t expect delays!
And if you need a coffee before getting started, don’t worry, you’ll find it at Toolbox.

The Conference day will end at 6:30 PM, don’t leave early, we care about final goodbyes!
And remember that there will be an afterparty in the evening, but we’ll tell you more about that in another article 😉

What to bring

Besides your curiosity and enthusiasm, here are a few things you might need on May 9 during the Conference:

  • A bag, tote, backpack, or anything you like, to take home the swag, the small gifts from sponsors, and the t-shirt from our 6th WordCamp.
  • If you’ve attended a previous WordCamp, bring your badge lanyard. We have enough for everyone, but bringing yours helps reduce waste and makes them available for other WordCamps.
  • A bottle, thermos, cup, or glass for water. At Toolbox you’ll find microfiltered water stations, both still and sparkling, freely available.
  • A notebook and pen, tablet, or any tool you prefer to take notes. Important: there won’t be access to power outlets to charge laptops or phones.

Read the schedule and plan ahead

Go to the program page and mark the sessions you’re interested in by clicking the star. Then you can download your personalized schedule of sessions you plan to attend, so you’ll know when to move from one room to another.

Reviewing the program in advance helps you understand the topics, explore the speakers’ profiles, and even plan relaxing breaks or extra time with sponsors if a session doesn’t match your interests.

We’ve designed the program to cover a wide range of topics at different levels. Here’s a suggestion: use WordCamp Torino to explore something outside your usual area of expertise but that sparks your curiosity. You might discover new horizons.

Experience the community

A WordCamp is the perfect space for anyone to build new connections in a welcoming and inclusive environment. Move past shyness and introduce yourself to the people you meet, everyone in the community is valuable, everyone finds their place, and most importantly, everyone has something to teach and something to learn.

The real strength of WordPress is its community, and a community is alive thanks to people who engage, interact, exchange ideas, and share. Let yourself be carried by the positive energy of a WordCamp, don’t stay on the sidelines, take a step forward, smile, introduce yourself, and start a conversation. Once you take that first step, everything will feel natural and enjoyable.

And you’ll go home with an incredible boost of energy and a whole new network of contacts 😉

To get started, log into Slack, not sure how? read here, join the #wctrn channel and introduce yourself: who you are, where you’re from, and what you do. Need an icebreaker if the conversation is slow? Tell us how you discovered WordPress and WordCamps.

In the channel, you can ask questions, seek advice, suggest car sharing, or share anything you feel like contributing.
