What is a WordCamp?

WordCamps are events dedicated to WordPress– the world’s most widely used Internet content publishing platform- and organized by local WordPress communities. They offer training sessions, presentations on using WordPress, and networking among those who attend, regardless of their role and experience.

The first WordCamp was held in 2006 in San Francisco, and from their success, WordCamps have become a staple of the WordPress experience for many people worldwide.

The event is often divided into two days:

  • The Conference is where you find the speakers’ talks.
  • The Contributor Day, where you get to work together on the open source project WordPress.

Our WordCamp is organized like this: There will be the Contributor Day on Friday and the Conference on Saturday.

The topics covered during a WordCamp are extensive, and there is something for everyone’s taste and experience. We talk about development, best practices, experiences within the Community, marketing, content, design, and many other topics… In short, everything you can think of when you think of WordPress and a website.

Some talks are more technical, some more contextual. Some are dedicated to an expert audience, and others to those just getting into WordPress. All have in common a desire to share knowledge and experience. During a WordCamp, you will always find great suggestions and new ideas, and most importantly, you will always find something worth learning more about once you get home.

If you want to get an idea of the topics, you can take a look at this year’s Call for Speaker or go and see what has happened in past years at the different WordCamps organized around Italy. Here are some links:

And if you want to widen your gaze across borders, on the WordCamp Central website, you will find all the WordCamps in the world that are planned and those that have already been held.

Learn, share, contribute, and meet are the keywords of a WordCamp experience. Without forgetting the fun! A WordCamp is truly a celebration of the local WordPress community, where you can catch up with old friends or make new ones!

The informal, welcoming atmosphere and the desire to make the event usable for every person make the experience of a WordCamp genuinely magical. In the end, you go home with a lot of positive energy (and new contacts and acquaintances) that lasts for a long time.

Don’t believe it? All you have to do is attend! We look forward to welcoming you with open arms and a smile on our face.
